You must successfully complete a 75-hour salesperson’s pre-license course, pass a state exam with a score of 75% or higher, and be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED equivalent. You must also obtain a certified criminal history report indicating whether you have any record of criminal history. This report must be obtained no more than 60 days prior to picking up your license.
You will be required to submit a Background Clearance Application to the Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC). This application is available on pages 19-21 of the AMP Candidate Handbook. The GREC may approve or deny your application, depending on your circumstances.
You may request a refund prior to attending a class. No refunds are paid once you have attended one session of class. AREI charges a $25 administrative fee and a $55 book charge (if you received textbook in advance) for any refund paid. Three (3) and six (6) hour courses are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Online courses are refundable for any reason within seven (7) business days from the date of purchase.Requests for cancellation of a registration must be made by contacting AREI by phone, or email. The request must be received by AREI before midnight of the seventh business day from the date of purchase. A cancellation fee will be charged to the student to cancel a registration. The amount of the cancellation fee is 15% of the total purchase amount. If the course includes one or more textbooks, the books must be returned at the student's expense. The request for cancellation will not be processed until the book(s) are returned to the school in reusable condition.
The cost of tuition for in-class and virtual live courses includes the books and materials. Online courses do not require textbooks. No additional purchases are necessary, although supplemental resources are available for purchase through AREI.
If a student needs to change their starting date from their original enrollment, no fee will apply if transfer is made BEFORE class start date. After class starts, a $25 transfer fee is charged to transfer. The transfer must be to a class that will be completed within one year of the original enrollment date. After one year, the full enrollment fee is required. If a student registers for an in-class course that is switched to a virtual live course after the student has registered, the student may request a refund. The deadline to request a refund is up to seven (7) calendar days after the class start date for prelicense courses, and the first day of class for all other courses.
You’re required to attend all of the required minimum 75 hours. Any missed required attendance will have to be made up before taking the course final exam. If you miss less than 12 hours, missed time can be made up by attending alternate pre-license sessions (either in-class or virtual live class) or attending a cram course at your expense. If you miss more than 12 hours, you will be dropped from the course and will be required to pay a $150 re-enrollment fee to retake a subsequent Salesperson Pre-license course.
You must achieve a score of 75% or higher on the written course final exam. If you don’t pass the final exam the first time, you may retake the final exam one time at no charge. All testing must be completed within one (1) year of course start date. If you fail to achieve a passing score on a retake examination, you must repeat all course instruction before taking another examination. A re-enrollment fee of $150 is required.

You have 180 days from the date of purchase or from the date of re-enrollment to complete the course. A 60-day extension may be purchased for online courses. The online pre-license and post-license courses require a timed, proctored final exam after completion.
The money paid for an online course and lessons completed are not transferrable to an in-class course. You may re-enroll for an in-class course at the reduced price of $205 (includes books and materials).

The AMP Real Estate Candidate Handbook includes pricing, location, and comprehensive information about taking your state exam with AMP. The state licensing exam is administered weekdays at four testing centers in Georgia. The exam fee is $121 and payment in full is required at the time of registration. The one-time license fee of $170 is paid when you pick up your license after passing the state exam.
Any person who passes a salesperson's examination must apply for an active or inactive license within 90 days of the exam date. The license fee doubles if you do not obtain the license within 90 days of passing the exam. If you don’t apply for a license within twelve months, you must retake the state examination to qualify for licensure.
You may not begin sales activity until you provide a wall certificate and pocket card to the brokerage firm with which you will affiliate.

If you currently hold a real estate license in another state that is in good standing (not lapsed or expired) and you obtained that license by taking an examination there, you may be eligible to obtain a reciprocal license in Georgia. The Application for Reciprocity is available in the “Forms and Applications” section of the Georgia Real Estate Commission website - www.grec.state.ga.us.
